Description: MAWDBP (MAWD binding protein), also known as PBLD (phenazine biosynthesis-like protein domain containing) or MAWBP, is a 288 amino acid protein that belongs to the phenazine biosynthesis-like protein (PhzF) family. It has been suggested that MAWDBP is the only representative of the PhzF family in the human genome. Expressed in most tissues, MAWDBP is a WD-40 repeat-containing _-propeller protein believed to participate in the MAPK signaling pathway. Involved in multiple basic cellular functions, expression of MAWDBP is elevated in several disease processes, including insulin resistance, folate deficiency and hypotension. It is thought that MAWDBP may also be involved in carcinogenesis.

Description: Velis are a family of small synaptic proteins that interact with other proteins at the post-synaptic density (PSD) of neuronal synapses. Velis contain the PDZ motif involved in recruiting cell adhesion molecules, receptors, and channels. Veli1 (also designated Lin-7A and MALS-1), Veli2 (also designated Lin-7B and MALS-2), and Veli3 (also designated Lin-7C and MALS-3) are mammalian homologs of C. elegans LIN-7. Veli proteins are ubiquitously expressed with high expression in brain, liver, and testis. Velis are localized at the synaptic junctions in neurons. Velis bind to CASK, a neurexin-binding protein highly concentrated in synapses, and Mint1, a binding partner with a vesicle trafficking protein.

Description: Caldesmon, Filamin 1, Nebulin, Plastin, ADF, Gelsolin, CapG, Dematin and Cofilin are differentially expressed Actin-binding proteins. Both muscular (CDh) and non-muscular (CD1) forms of Caldesmon bind to Actin as well as to Calmodulin and Myosin. CDh is expressed predominantly on thin filaments in smooth muscle, whereas CD1 is widely expressed in non-muscle tissues and cells. CapG, also designated Actin-regulatory protein and macrophage-capping protein, is a macrophage-specific protein that reversibly blocks the barbed ends of Actin filaments, but does not sever preformed ones. The interactions of CapG with Actin may be important in the regulation of nuclear and cytoplasmic structures. CapG is a calcium-sensitive DNA-binding protein that plays a role in macrophage function. It is expressed in macrophages and macrophage-like cells and can localize both to the nucleus and the cytoplasm.

Description: The RING-type zinc finger motif is present in a number of viral and eukaryotic proteins and is made of a conserved cysteine-rich domain that is able to bind two zinc atoms. Proteins that contain this conserved domain are generally involved in the ubiquitination pathway of protein degradation. RNF32 (RING finger protein 32), also known as HSD15 or FKSG33, is a 362 amino acid cytoplasmic protein that contains one IQ domain and two RING-type zinc fingers. Highly expressed in testis with lower expression levels in ovary tissue, RNF32 is thought to play a role in spermatogenesis, specifically contributing to the growth and maturation of round spermatids. Six isoforms of RNF32 exist due to alternative splicing events.

Description: The calcium-activated chloride channel (CLCA) protein family, which includes the human homologs CLCA1 and CLCA2, display distinct tissue distribution patterns. CLCA1 is expressed as a precursor protein that is processed into two cell surface associated subunits and a group of proteins. CLCA1 is upregulated by interleukin-9 and regulates the expression of mucins. CLCA1 may provide a therapeutic target to control mucus overproduction in airway disease patients with cystic fibrosis. CLCA2 expression is downregulated in breast cancer, therefore CLCA2 is thought to act as a tumor suppressor in normal cells. CLCA3 (known as Clca3 in mouse) is a structurally divergent member of the CLCA family that does not function as a channel protein. CLCA4 is a CLCA member that is expressed in human rectal mucosa, CLCA5 shows strong expression in eye and spleen, and CLCA6 is primarily expressed in intestine and stomach.

Description: The rTS gene codes for a naturally occurring antisense RNA to thymidylate synthase (TS) mRNA and two proteins (rTSalpha and rTSbeta (also known as ENOSF1)). The role of the major protein product of rTS, ENOSF1 has been linked to alterations in TS protein expression, but the precise function of ENOSF1 is unknown. Expression of rTS is associated with growth arrest in cell culture, but its overexpression has been noted in cells resistant to anticancer drugs such as 5-fluorouracil and methotrexate. Studies have shown that increased expression of ENOSF1 is associated with the decrease in TS protein expression due to production of novel, diffusible signal molecules.

Description: Glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI) acts as a membrane anchor for cell surface proteins. Glycosylphosphatidylinositol anchor attachment 1 protein (GPAA1), also designated GPI anchor attachment protein 1 or GAA1 protein homolog, is a membrane protein localized to the endoplasmic reticulum which is involved in GPI-anchor biosynthesis. GPAA1 is crucial for GPI-anchoring of precursor proteins and catalyzes the attachment of GPI to proteins containing a C-terminal GPR attachment signal. GAA1 contains an N-terminal signal sequence, one cAMP- and cGMP-dependent protein kinase phosphorylation site, two potential N-glycosylation sites, one leucine zipper pattern and eight putative transmembrane domains. GPAA1 is ubiquitously expressed and shows higher levels of expression in fetal tissues than in adult tissues.

Description: Halt Protease Inhibitor Cocktail provides all the protection of a broad-spectrum protease inhibitor in a single, ready-to-use liquid format. Halt protects against protein degradation by serine, cysteine, and aspartic acid proteases and aminopeptidases. Metalloproteases are inhibited by the optional use of 0,5 M EDTA. The 100X Halt stock solution makes it easy to dispense the required amount (10 µl per 1 ml) of protease inhibitors into buffers or lysis reagents prior to extraction of proteins from cultured cells, animal tissues, plant tissues, yeast or bacteria. Halt Protease Inhibitor Cocktails are compatible with Thermo Scientific Pierce Protein Extraction Reagents. Halt EDTA-free formulation is ideal for preparing samples that will be analysed by 2-D gel electrophoresis, immobilised metal chelate affinity chromatography (IMAC) and other downstream application where chelating agents interfere.
