Description: Aldolase is a tetrameric protein. It catalyses a key reaction in glycolysis and energy production:D-Fructose 1,6-bisphosphate aldolase → dihydroxyacetone phosphate + D-glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate. Aldolase is present in all animal tissue and in most microorganisms. There are two classes of aldolases. Class I aldolase is found in animal and higher plant tissue. Class II aldolase is found in primitrive cells such as yeasts and bacteria. Class I aldolase is characterised by not requiring a bivalent metal cofactor and the formation of a ketimine Schiff base intermediate with the substrate dihydroxyacetone phosphate. Class II aldolase requires a metal cofactor and is inhibited by EDTA. Three types of aldolase exist in animal tissue. The major form, type A is found in muscle; type B is found in liver tissue and type C (plus some type A) is found in brain tissue. Aldolase forms five isozymes which may to various degrees be organ specific.

Supplier: MEMMERT
Description: This steriliser complies with all relevant standards and regulations for medical products and guarantees reliable programme sequences, irrespective of the load and chamber volume. Especially due to the SetpointWAIT function the validation of this hot air steriliser is possible anytime. The SetpointWAIT function ensures that the programme is only continued when the setpoint temperature has been reached. Precisely maintaining the sterilisation time and completely killing off even highly resistant microorganisms is therefore guaranteed at all times, irrespective of the sterilisation load and chamber volume. This feature can also be used with additional, freely positionable PT100 temperature sensors. In this case, sterilisation only begins when the setpoint temperature has been reached at all measurement points – that is, in the load. For the special application of depyrogenisation, the hot-air steriliser is ideal.

Supplier: ProSci Inc.
Description: The MUC6 gastric mucin is a secreted glycoprotein that plays an essential role in epithelial cyto-protection from acid, proteases, pathogenic microorganisms, and mechanical trauma in the gastrointestinal tract. Mucin 6 expression is highest in the stomach and gall bladder, with lower expression in the terminal ileum and right colon. In gastric cancer, Mucin 6 has an altered expression. In normal stomach, Mucin 6 is associated with Lewis type 2; Mucin 6 is also expressed in gastric metaplasia, duodenum and pancreas. Mucin 6 is a secretory mucin, located in the deeper mucosal folds of human gall bladder, and its expression is altered with increasing degrees of inflammation.

Supplier: PanReac AppliChem
Description: A reagent for the detection of indole-positive and indole-negative microorganisms. Some microorganisms can cleave tryptophan which is especially abundant in trypticalle digested peptone to give pyruvic acid, ammonia and indole. Indole then reacts with 4-dimethylaminobenzaldehyde to form a dark red dye. As tryptophan also gives a colour reaction with 4-dimethylaminobenzaldehyde, it must be separated from the indole. This is achieved by selectively extracting indole with butanol.
