Description: The adenomatous polyposis syndromes, familial adenomatous polyposis (FAP) and Gardner’s syndrome (GS), are characterized by numerous adenomatous polyps throughout the entire colon. These polyps invariably progress to colon cancer in addition to other extracolonic manifestations. The cloning of the APC gene revealed a ubiquitously expressed protein, 2843 amino acids in length, which is frequently mutated in patients suffering from FAP and GS. APC has been found to be associated with structural components of intracellular junctions. b-catenin and g-catenin (also called plakoglobin) are involved in the regulation of cellular adhesion. APC and E cadherin compete for binding to specific internal regions of both b- and g-catenin. Interactions between cytoskeleton and the APC, E cadherin, b/g catenin complex are mediated by a-catenin.

Description: Recognizes a carbohydrate determinant of Gal 1-3(Fuc 1-4) GlcNAc which is blood group antigen Lewis A. It is present primarily on epithelial cells such as colon and kidneys. In the tumors and dedifferentiated tissues, decrease of Lewis A antigen was observed. Lewis A (type 1 chain) is expressed in colonic epithelial cells and may be useful for detection of gastrointestinal tumors, pancreatic cancer, and colorectal tumors. Blood group related antigens represent a group of carbohydrate determinants carried on both glycolipids and glycoproteins. They are usually mucin-type, and are detected on erythrocytes, certain epithelial cells, and in secretions of certain individuals. Sixteen genetically and biosynthetically distinct but inter-related specificities belong to this group of antigens, including A, B, H, Lewis A, Lewis B, Lewis X, Lewis Y, and precursor type 1 chain antigens.

Description: CD66e (CEACAM5; CEA) belongs to the carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) gene family. It encodes a glycosyl phosphatidyl inositol (GPI)-linked glycoprotein with a Mr of 180'000-200'000 which is most strongly expressed on epithelial cells of the fetal and adult colon and to a minor extent on epithelial cells of the stomach and sweat glands, squamous epithelial cells of the tongue, esophagus and cervix. CD66e is used as a tumor marker for early detection of recurrent disease due to its expression in adenocarcinomas of the colon, lung, breast, stomach and pancreas and in mucinous ovarian carcinomas. Like all members of the CEACAM family, it consists of a single N domain, with structural homology to the immunoglobulin variable domains, followed by six immunoglobulin constant-like A (A1, A2, A3) and B domains (B1, B2, B3).

Supplier: Bioss
Description: Carbohydrate-binding lectin with a preference for chitin. Has no chitinase activity. May play a role in tissue remodeling and in the capacity of cells to respond to and cope with changes in their environment. Plays a role in T-helper cell type 2 (Th2) inflammatory response and IL-13-induced inflammation, regulating allergen sensitization, inflammatory cell apoptosis, dendritic cell accumulation and M2 macrophage differentiation. Facilitates invasion of pathogenic enteric bacteria into colonic mucosa and lymphoid organs. Mediates activation of AKT1 signaling pathway and subsequent IL8 production in colonic epithelial cells. Regulates antibacterial responses in lung by contributing to macrophage bacterial killing, controlling bacterial dissemination and augmenting host tolerance. Also regulates hyperoxia-induced injury, inflammation and epithelial apoptosis in lung.

Description: This antibody recognizes an intermediate filament protein (IFP) of 55 kDa, which is identified as cytokeratin 7. This MAb is highly specific to cytokeratin 7 and shows no cross-reaction with other IFPs. Cytokeratin 7 is a basic cytokeratin, which is found in most glandular and transitional epithelia but not in the stratified squamous epithelia. Keratin 7 is expressed in the epithelial cells of ovary, lung, and breast but not of colon, prostate, or gastrointestinal tract. This MAb is highly useful in distinguishing ovarian carcinomas (keratin 7 ) from colon carcinomas (keratin 7-).

Description: TORC3 is a 619 amino acid protein that localizes to both the cytoplasm and the nucleus and belongs to the TORC family. Expressed in lung tissue and B and T lymphocytes, as well as in colon, brain, ovary, kidney, prostate, colon and heart, TORC3 functions as a transcriptional coactivator for CREB-1, thereby regulating the expression of CREB-activated genes, and is also thought to activate the SIK/TORC signaling pathway. TORC3 exists as multiple alternatively spliced isoforms and, in addition to its role in transcriptional activation, is thought to induce mitochondrial biogenesis, specifically in muscle cells.

Description: Recognizes a single glycoprotein of 520 kDa, identified as mucin 2 (MUC2). This MAb shows no cross-reaction with human milk fat globule membranes, MUC1, or MUC3. Mucins are high molecular weight glycoproteins, which constitute the major component of the mucus layer that protects the gastric epithelium.MUC2 is specifically expressed in goblet cells of the small intestine & colon; in about 65% of colonic carcinomas and about 40% of gastric carcinomas. MUC2 is rarely expressed outside of the GI tract with the exceptions of mucinous carcinoma of breast and clear cell-type carcinomas of the ovary.
