HemaSep™ is available in two formats and their fiber-based technology allows effective separation of different volumes of undiluted whole blood:
HemaSep™ Strip card: Capable of separating up to 50 μl of blood. Once separated and dried, the areas of the device containing plasma/serum can be cut for downstream analysis.
HemaSep™ Punch card: Allowing separation of up to 100 μl of blood. The card is suitable for either manual punching or automated punching with robotic equipment.
Both HemaSep™ cards have the ability to store plasma/serum at ambient temperature for subsequent use in biomarkers analysis. The large area for sample collection significantly contributes to results reliability and the fiber-based material saves time and costs by allowing sample preparation at the site of the blood draw.
With minimal volumes of blood required (20 to 100 μl), the procedure is less invasive compared to standard plasma sampling and doesn’t require to be performed by skilled personnel. The HemaSep™ technology allows fast and simple separation of whole blood in just a few minutes.
Samples collected on HemaSep™ can be transported by regular mail and stored at ambient temperature over time without compromising their quality. The collection and separation processes do not require use of plastic or centrifugation energy. HemaSep™ cards deliver collection in replicates (from 2 to 4) to confirm results. The recovery of biomarkers is comparable to standard plasma sampling methods.
The different designs of HemaSep™ make the cards to be used in manual or automated equipment. The wide options for customisation offered include different dimensions of the strips, printing, colors and logo, chemistry applied, precutting and removable wrapping.
