Peptidase A stick is a strip test for the rapid identification of group A streptococci (Streptococcus pyogenes) and group D enterococci on the basis of enzymatic hydrolysis of L-pyrrolidonyl-ß-naphthylamide (PYR).

  • Kit contains:
  • 30 strips impregnated with a solution of L-pyrrolidonyl-ß-naphtyylamide (PYR)
  • 1 bottle of PYR-Reagent (p-dimethyl-aminocinnamaldehyde)

Strips are impregnated with the substratum L-pyrrolidonyl-β-naphtylamide (PYR) that in presence of the enzyme pyrrolidonyl peptidase develops a pink-red colour when the PYR–reagent (p-dimethyl-aminocinnamaldehyde) is added.

Each batch of Peptidase A stick is subjected to quality control using the following microbial strains:
Streptococcus pyogenes ATCC® 19615 and Enterococcus faecalis ATCC® 29212 as positive control and Escherichia coli ATCC® 25922 and Staphylococcus aureus ATCC® 25923 as negative control.

Caution: Peptidase A stick contains substances classified as hazardous by current legislation. It is recommended to consult the safety data sheet for its correct use. This product is designed for professional use and must be used in a laboratory by suitably trained operators using approved aseptic and safety methods for dealing with pathogenic agents.
